Sambaxé (samba-ashe) is a Brazilian inspired music & dance company and community group dedicated to spreading joy and multi-culturalism throughout the city of San Francisco and the Bay Area. Their mission is to create a fun and safe environment in which to explore to explore Brazilian dance, music, culture and tradition through drumming & dance classes and performances. In Brazilian culture, Axé (ashe) means life force energy. Join Sambaxé in celebrating life through music & dance.
We are just a piece of the San Francisco community that participates as a contingent in the annual San Francisco Carnaval parade. The parade is set in the Mission District of San Francisco and is the largest multi-cultural celebration on the West Coast. Your donations help to continue this important tradition.
2015 is particularly special for us, as we also celebrate Sambaxé's 10th year anniversary and participation in the parade!
We are kindly asking all family, friends, colleagues and supporters to help us fundraise. We need to raise $5000 in order to produce our contingent, costumes, float and sound system. This is no easy task, and no donation amount is too small. All proceeds are used to fund the contingent's particpation in SF Carnaval parade.
Every year we work with public high school students from the SF non-profit, Youth Art Exchange, and this year, we will be partnering with the Creative Arts Charter School, grades K-8, to help design and build the float, drum as a member of the bateria or dance as part of the contingent.
Your donation is critical in helping us keep the culture and preservation of the Mission alive!
