Samantha's Medical Bills/Pay Loss

Samantha was misdiagnosed a year ago with a mild heart condition and has been to the ER several times this last year. On Wednesday, she was admitted to a different hospital, which correctly diagnosed her within one hour.  Unfortunately, Samantha does not have insurance due to the rising costs and her needing every penny to pay for childcare and housing. On top of all of this, where she currently works does not allow employees to accrue sick or vacation time until they have been employed for 1 year, so any time she misses work or takes off it is without pay.  Because she has not been employed for a year she does not qualify for FMLA to protect her job while she is not at work. She does not qualify for Medicare because she makes more than they allow. We are currently looking into her ADA rights.

Now complications have risen during her hospital visit and she is required to have two surgeries and will not be granted the second surgery until her pancreas no longer has inflammation. We do not know when this will be but they are testing everyday to see if she is well enough for the second surgery. Each day she remains in the hospital the cost is $15,000, plus loss of pay $160 a day.

We have been told that if she can pay the bill within 2 weeks after being discharged from the hospital they will grant a 70% discount. We understand that there are more pressing issue going on in the world today; however, any help you could extend to Samantha at this time would be greatly appreciated.
