Sam Winston 1978-2023

Hello I’m Julie, Sam was married to my sister Karen and was father to my niece Abigail.  He also leaves behind his Mum, Dad, Brother & Sister, who are all trying to process and come to terms with the sad events that unfolded on Sunday evening. 

 

Everybody will remember Sam for the fun loving, talented, cheeky joker he was.  Sadly, this wasn’t the case for the past several years and Sam has suffered with mental health issues and at times he really was a lost soul.  This led him to some extremely troubled times, where he was maybe suffering a lot more than he let on. 

 

Sam’s passing has left everybody absolutely devastated, especially his Mum and Dad, yet none of us can even begin to imagine what his only child, Abi, is going through.  Karen and I sat with her yesterday at the funeral home listening to what she wants for her dad on his final journey.  She wants him to have the dignity and respect he deserves.


Sam didn’t have funeral cover, life insurance or any money at the end of his life.  As a family we will do everything we can to make sure Abigail gets what she wants for her dad, but sadly with the passing of Sam at such a young age and so suddenly, it isn’t something any of us were prepared for.


I know Karen and Abi, as well as Sharon and Tony, have been absolutely overwhelmed at the outpouring of love, support and condolences from people reaching out to them at such a sad time.


This is a massive ask and something that doesn’t come easy, but after several discussions with Abi and Karen, rather than sending flowers, we are asking for anybody that wishes, to send a donation, which will help with the funeral cost and allow Abi to give her dad the send-off he deserves.


The smallest amount really will help.  Should anybody choose to donate, it would really be very much appreciated and knowing Sam as well as we did, we know how grateful he would be for this help.
