Salty Paws is a non-profit animal rescue & clinic based on the beautiful paradise island of Union Island in St.Vincent & the Grenadines, South of the Caribbean.
We are on a small isolated island, with a population of less than 3000 people and lots of stray cats & dogs. As we have no veterinarians on island, it makes it very difficult to care for the animals and to control the unwanted overpopulation of them.
Due to Covid-19, we have had a major decline in the number of tourists visiting the island in the last 8 months, therefore the island dogs don't have as much food as they would normally get from kind visitors passing through. We have seen the impact this has had first hand, and it’s very sad.
We currently have approximately 30 cats and dogs living on the premises at Salty Paws Animal Rescue.
Susie is our live-in caretaker and is fabulous with our in-house animals, while they wait on finding their forever homes which are not easy to find.
We take in the less fortunate animals that are abandoned and left to fend for themselves. Often found in a terrible state, mostly near death or very ill, we pick them up and offer them a safe place to shelter, with food and lots of love.
Once recovered, we spay and neuter them & try to find them loving homes.
We use our clinic to offer monthly free spay & neuter clinics, carried out by qualified vets, so that we can fight the overpopulation of cats & dogs on Union Island and ensure they have a happier and healthier future.
So far we have been able to do a few clinics thanks to donations, however we would need to continue this for many more years to come, so that a true difference can be made for the well being of our island animals. And for this we need your help !
Donations go towards vet fees, medications, daily feeding costs as well as general day to day costs to run the rescue.
We are run entirely by donations, made possible by the incredible donors that donate to our organisation as well as the amazing volunteers that help us.
Costs are high to feed and care for the animals, so any help would be greatly appreciated as we try to reach our goal in spaying and neutering as many animals on the island so that we can control the population of unwanted animals.
Thanks to you guys, we are able to help our furry friends on Union Island for as long as possible and couldn't thank you enough from the bottom of our hearts for any help.
Any amount would help us greatly in trying to reach our goals of giving all the animals on our small island a better and healthier life !
