Salish Sea Sisters Swim

Spende geschützt
The Salish Sea Sisters swim to protect wild salmon, orcas, and our beautiful coast!

The recent loss of Tahlequah J35's calf has resonated so deeply with us.  The heavy feeling in all of our hearts is too much.  This is a tragic reminder that we need to make a change.  My sister Alyssa, and I are planning a 2200m ocean swim from Denman Island to Hornby Island, in the traditional unceded territories of the K'ómoks First Nation.  Our hope is to raise awareness to our friends, family, community, and hopefully beyond, about the risks and damage our coast and marine life is being subjected to.  Reliant on the conditions, we are hoping to swim on the weekend of September 22&23.

We all share love for our beautiful oceans, coast, wildlife, and home!  Our coastal environment and marine wildlife make up all of us, and we need to protect it! We hope to start major conversation about this, and encourage you to dig deep into your hearts, and your connection to our coast.  We need passion, compassion and immense love to turn this current sate around.

We want our community efforts to go directly where they will have the biggest and most needed impact, as we are really feeling the desperation of this situation.  We have decided to send all money raised, to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s “Operation Virus Hunter" to research and end salmon farming in our waters.  Wild salmon are a keystone species in our region, feeding wildlife from birds to bears, marine life, orcas, rivers, and our forests... we need to protect them.  Please help in any way you can.. share this project, talk about it, send love! Thank you all so much, together we can make a huge difference!

“People saving whales, and giving your thanks to our seas, my respect to the ones in the forest standing up for our old trees”
