Salem Rugby Field Improvements!

Donation protected
Our rugby club is in need of some field improvements! The City of Keizer has generously allowed us to make the needed field improvements to Claggett Creek Park, which we have used as our home field for the last 5 years. We are in desperate need of a new set of goal posts and post pads to improve the safety for our players.  Furthermore, the City of Keizer is letting us have storage on site which will save the team a lot of hassle. This means we also need to buy a storage container.

The game of rugby teaches decision making, strategy, and leadership. Rugby builds character and a good work ethic for our youth teams through teamwork, communication and good sportsmanship. Women's rugby is uniquely empowering because it's a place where all body types are assets and women's strength is celebrated.  There is a sense of camaraderie that is unique to the sport of rugby- not often will you hear about other sports where on the field an opponent compliments a player for their tackle. After every match the home team hosts the away team and many friendships are built off the pitch.

Please support this important and necessary project to benefit all of our rugby teams!

History
Salem Rugby Club was founded
in 2011 to develop, grow, and promote the sport of amateur rugby at all levels in and around Marion and Polk counties, Oregon; Insure that the sport of rugby is carried out in a safe and sportsmanlike manner on and off the field; Develop and provide qualified coaching and officiating for our organization and for the rugby community as a whole; and provide a positive image of rugby through our actions, and through service and support of our community.

Who we are
Salem Rugby Club is the umbrella organization for the Spartans Men’s Rugby, the Attack Owl’s Women’s Rugby and the High School Lost Boys teams. We are also expanding into 6-8th  grade this year and will add a high school girls’ team in the future.

Our Need
The set of posts and post pads we currently have are in very poor shape, and it is crucial for the safety of both our players and our opponents’ players to have new posts and post pads.

-          Goal posts $1,774.50
-          Post Pads (4) $2,800
-          Storage Container $3,000
-          Rental equipment to remove benches $500

Total: $8,074.50

Through our fundraising over the last year, we have raised about $4,000, and need about an additional $4,000 to meet our goal! Please help us support this project!
