8/24 update: The above picture is the finished product! We were able to have the 1st and 2nd grade rooms tiled thanks to a final donation amount of $3,752.40 (after GoFundMe fees). That amount includes all donations on this site, as well as a very generous donation (via check) from an alumni. Thanks again for your support to STA!

Hello STA Community and Alumni!
As a Catholic school community we are constantly working towards maintaining strong technology advancement and a beautiful campus. Through a subsidy from the Archdiocese of Newark, we are capable of doing projects to our campus. For example, this summer the school has a very significant project planned. There has been a vacant room next to Kindergarten for some time that is being turned into a usable Pre-K 3 classroom (rather than having Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 together in one classroom as in prior years). This summer we will add a bathroom to that new Pre K 3 classroom so it’s ready for this school year. This is an exciting project as the school looks to continue to generate enrollment growth for the long term success of STA. A positive story that should bring excitement to us all!
Additionally, this summer the school plans to replace all of the old gaskets and filters on the radiators throughout the school, and further strengthen the building’s phones and internet capabilities.
With all of the above mentioned projects being covered by our budget/Archdiocese subsidy, we are looking for a way to make further improvements to our 77 year old campus, above and beyond what’s already in our budget.
One additional project that has been identified is the replacing of floor tiles in three classrooms (new Pre-K 3 room, as well as the 1st grade and 2nd grade classrooms). Principal Petrillo has received an estimate that it would cost approximately $5,000 to remove the old tiles, and replace with new tiles in those classrooms. The current tiles are not asbestos tiles, so no concerns there. The pictures show how the current tiles (greenish in color) are cracked and peeling. As you can see there is a great need here. Some of the worst problem areas have been under area rugs, but the goal is to replace the old flooring with new flooring similar to what was recently done in our Kindergarten classroom (see last picture of new beige flooring). Our Principal works hard to constantly market our school on social media. Often times, the pictures posted show the students of the younger grades sitting on the floor during story time, etc. This project will have a positive impact not only to the daily lives of our youngest of students, but to our overall marketability as well.
Principal Petrillo is very much aware of this fundraiser. We will work on keeping this fundraiser completely transparent to all, and he will eventually share pictures of the new flooring via social media once it’s completed later this summer or in the fall (depending on the contractors availability).
This fundraising effort will last just 3 weeks and ends on Sunday, 8/6 so let’s spread the word and meet our goal! Please consider contributing to this fundraiser, and I ask that you share this link with others as well.
