Safety net for Eric's family

On February 28th, Mercy Mukhwana’s husband Eric died suddenly after he was treated, given a good bill of health, and released from the local hospital to return home. Mercy and Eric have two sons: one is a high school graduate, the other currently in high school. It is devastating for Mercy to lose her love and soulmate and more than half of the family’s income all within one day.
Because Mercy is the driving force as director of Ameena Project’s school in the Kiang’ombe community of Thika, Kenya and has been for the past 9 years, it is our desire to ease the financial burden that will now fall solely on Mercy. She has incurred immediate costs associated with Eric’s death and funeral, as well as the ongoing costs associated with schooling and everyday living expenses.
Through our collective contributions we can express to Mercy and her family our deep sympathy, our gratitude for her continued service to others through Ameena Project these last 9 years, and our abounding desire for her good work to continue.
We hope to have funds collected to send to her immediately and to ease her burdens over the coming year. Funds will be distributed directly to Mercy directly from Ameena Project co-founders Ian and Anne May.
