Sacred Heart Youth Ministry takes a leap of faith

Donation protected
Jesus said, “go and make disciples of all nations.” It is our duty as Christians, to fulfill this Great Commission. This may sound daunting, but we find it fun and fulfilling to spread God’s love.

The Sacred Heart Youth Ministry started with a group of 60 kids in 2020 but with each event we encounter more youth joining us and today we are truly blessed to see our youth ministry expand to over 200 youth as they develop friendships and solidify their faith family. As Matthew 18:20 says “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." That is what happens each week in our ministry, God comes to join us! And in February we really witnessed God’s work when over 240 kids joined us in a retreat. Some have been called to take a greater leap of faith and join our leadership team where they not only help spread the word of God but also learn the grace and mercy of Christ. These 19 leaders are in a development program that will help propel them to be faithful to Christ in all they do as they get older.

In the past couple of months, we have learned vital lessons from participating in mission projects like:
  • Sending over 100 handwritten letters to the elderly so we can put smiles on their faces.
  • Sorting and distributing toys for over 150 children during the Christmas Toy drive.
  • Volunteering at the ticket booth, clean up, etc. in the Sacred Heart Carnival.
  • Partaking in retreats, workshops, and other mercy work in our community.

Participation in those mission projects has stimulated a “want to do more and be more” that we did not even know existed until recently. May I pull at your heart strings and ask you to consider how transformative it would be for the Sacred Heart Youth Ministry to be able to do more events like this. As you can imagine, our parents and ministry alone cannot afford this cost, so we reach out to you--our village of parishioners. We ask for your help in any way you can, so that we may go beyond the Homestead community mission projects to partake in a “youth global encounter” like the disciples on Mount Tabor. This moment of grace will equip our young members to fulfill our commitment as ambassadors for Christ. Please help us experience our next step.

In complying with His order: “Go therefore and make disciples ….” we earn His promise: “And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.” God’s work awaits us in the everyday valleys of life as we seek to follow him by faith. We appreciate your encouragement, prayer, and support on our behalf. Your support for our cause is a blessing. Thank you and have a blessed day!
