My Mothers Memorial and Cremation Costs

Donation protected
*update* my mother passed away today, 1-2-2021 at 3:12pm As some of you may know, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer late 2019. Cancer runs in my family and this was devastating news for myself and my 3 brothers. She opted for surgery and chemo. After her chemo treatment was complete, she lost a significant amount of weight (but by some miracle, no hair!) She went back to be checked regularly and we were under the impression she was going to be okay. She spent that summer enjoying her time with beach and pool trips with my family and I and had many laughs with my 5 year old daughter, who calls her Nana. Then came some more bad news in August of 2020, right after her birthday. She started feeling dizzy and confused. My older brother convinced her to go get checked out and that’s when she found out that she had developed a rapidly growing brain tumor. Her care team immediately devised a plan of surgery and radiation. This was the toughest to recover from, and despite their best efforts, on December 18th of 2020, we found out she had only weeks to live. She wanted one last Christmas at home, and even through the pain and increased immobility, she insisted on staying home until Christmas. My older brother and I took shifts caring for her, making sure she was taking her medications on time to manage pain. We talked a lot about little details of what she wanted and left the rest up to me, which is a tremendous honor. My mother is Pagan and wishes to be cremated. I would also love to (when timing is good) to have a memorial service for her. My mother did not have life insurance or any savings unfortunately. Which is why I am asking for any help you are able to offer, even if it is to share this. Anyone who knew my mother well knew her to be a sassy, strong, independent woman. She taught me to never take anyone’s crap (especially from a man!) and she taught me how to tap into my spirituality. She will be leaving behind 4 children, 1 son in law, 1 grandchild, 2 brothers, 1 sister and many in-laws, cousins, and extended relatives, as well as many loyal friends, both near and far, old and new. Any funds raised will go to her cremations costs as well as a proper memorial service (when times allow for gatherings and such) Any remaining funds will go to my older brother for the time out of work he has taken without receiving unemployment benefits, as they’re backed up and do not provide 100% of his weekly income in the first place. My older brother, Steven “Conrad” has been such a light through this whole matter and has really taken the lead, naturally as the oldest does. He has attended her appointments, sat with her during all the rough stuff and has been a shoulder and an ear for her, as well as myself. Thank you so very much for reading up until this point. I wouldn’t have made it through this in one piece if it weren’t for the tremendous outpouring of support I have received from family and friends. Take good care and be well -Shannon Morgan Daughter of Diane Obryan (Flynn)
