Bring literacy to Church Hill Primary, Jamaica

Please help us bring literacy to Church Hill Primary School :)
Church Hill Primary is located in Santoy, Hanover. It is a rural community in Jamaica, West Indies. This year’s program was successful and it’s very encouraging for a 1st time. We definitely want to pursue this endeavor each summer as not only did the children improved their reading skills tremendously but also realized that they are not on their own and we care. They had their school teacher volunteer their summer time and foreign teachers do the same. It goes much beyond academics and this will help change the community by opening a world of opportunities and building a deep sense of citizenship, hence helping reducing crime as well.
We launched our summer reading program at Church Hill Primary in August 2019 and were able to service between 20 and 30 students (some came on and off because of their financial situation). All the ones who attended regularly showed not only progress with reading skills (fluency and Reading comprehension) but their enthusiasm for reading increased tremendously .
In August, families have to purchase all the back to school supplies and uniforms and pay for the tuition fee so it’s not easy to have the extra $2 per day for the fare and $1.50 for lunch money but a lot of them ended up walking over an hour to come to the program because they didn’t want to miss it and we helped out those who didn't have lunch money.
This year, we would like to provide the same services (3hrs of small group instruction according to reading levels per day for a 2 to 3 week period) and if possible provide free lunch to the students. We need to raise funds to assist the teachers who are recruited pay for their air fare and accommodations. Thank you for helping us make this happen :)
