Help Dr.Alaa to evacuate his family from Gaza

With a heavy heart I start this fundraiser. I have exhausted all available solutions to evacuate my family from Gaza. The only option left for me is to start raising funds that can help with this crisis and I will explain why and how.

I am Alaa, a veterinarian and assistant teacher, Department of Surgery at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, ambitious and persistent. My family in Gaza consists of 8 members: including me, mama, my father, my brother Abdul Salam, Moataz, Raed, my sister Ola and Farah. For the past six years, I was studying and expatriate in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and I came to the Gaza Strip on October 5 two days before the beginning of the war. I was appointed assistant teacher at Al-Azhaz University, worked tirelessly, devoted myself to my family, worked hard, and built my career, two days after my arrival, the university and our house were destroyed and my dreams and ambitions went with them. Unfortunately, my life turned upside down on October 7. Since that day, thousands of innocent lives have been lost in Gaza, and many innocent people have lost their jobs and the only source of income, as well as their home

My family and I left our house under constant bombardment, walking without carrying our personal belongings, our winter clothes or even our money, heading from Khan Yonis. There, we lived the most difficult days of our lives, then we moved to Deir al-Balah after the air strikes and intensified the bombing, hoping to find safety there or find a way out of Gaza to a safe place where we can dream of a future for our children. I continue my journey to bring hope to the faces of my patients, to live a happy and safe life for my family, to keep them away from all this pain, destruction and siege, and to avoid the bleak future that awaits them if the situation continues as it is in Gaza. The pain we have experienced over the years, I do not seek or accept that our children will suffer from it in the future.

We are currently seeking help to evacuate from Gaza to Egypt in search of a safe and healthy place. But unfortunately, the costs are prohibitive and change dramatically and unexpectedly day by day, as Israel’s grip on southern Gaza intensifys in the coming days and weeks, costs will continue to rise as demand increases and fewer agents operating evacuation routes.

As of late December, the evacuation fee ranges between $5,000 and $7,000 per person, before the processing and transportation fee, and we will pay the upper end of the range because many of us do not have passports. My family and I are requesting $40,000 based on the following details: Evacuation fees at the Egyptian border are between $5,000 and $7,000 per person where each day there is a different price for evacuation fees at the Egyptian border, plus a processing fee of $2,000 per person, $2,000 for transportation, and a 2.9% commission fee.

Any amount raised exceeding the total will be used to supplement my family’s life as refugees in Egypt.

Your donation, however small, will have an impact. You will contribute to making my family safe. The funds will be used transparently and every dollar will go towards securing our evacuation.
