My Battle With Cancer
Hi, my name is Annette. I've been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, putting my heart and soul into taking care of people as if they were my own flesh and blood. For the last 2 months, I hadn't been feeling myself. I was getting terrible headaches, lost my peripheral vision to the point that I started scraping up my car when driving and not recognizing my surroundings. I was afraid, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to do regular everyday tasks. I went to the neurologist who sent me for an MRI, and on July 4th weekend I became the patient that I was so used to taking care of. I was diagnosed with brain cancer and had emergency brain surgery. It was discovered that it came from a nodule that was found on my lung. It was shocking news considering I never smoked a day in my life! I have now been out of work for 3 weeks. As of August 11th all of my PTO time will be used up and I will be put on disability. Unfortunately I will not be able to cover my mortgage and other living and medical expenses on disability alone. It is difficult for me to ask for a helping hand when I am so used to being the one extending it, but I have prayed and put my pride to the side and am asking; if anyone is so inclined to find it in their heart to help me through this difficult time I would greatly appreciate it. I will pray that God blesses all of you and your gracious hearts. My love goes out to all as I continue this unexpected battle.
