Jaxon's Journey

Donation protected
Jaxon is this amazing kid who has begun to adapt to life without arms. He has taught himself how to get around, play with toys etc. He is truly a remarkable little fellow with big blue eyes that would melt any heart. When I was thinking about writing this, I thought about everything I use my hands for. Eating, drinking, dressing, playing, bathing, going to the bath room and catching myself when I fall. Then I thought about all the obstacles Jaxon will have to overcome in the years to come. Jaxon does have his shoulder joint, which will give him a very good chance of having electronic arms in which he will be able to move his arms and individual fingers. Right now, Jaxon is too small for prosthetics because of his growth rate. By the time they would make the prosthetics, he would have outgrown them. Around age 4 or 5 they will start with his prosthetics and Jaxon will need several sets as he grows. The static set of prosthetics starts at $60,000, and an electronic set could cost as much as $120,000. The doctors feels that Jaxon will have to start with a static set because the electronic set will be too heavy for him. As an adult, a set of electronic prosthetics will cost $1,000,000+. Recently, Nationwide Children’s Hospital Genetic Team started full genome testing on Jaxon to see if his condition was genetic, an abnormality, or another health reason. The testing may show why Jaxon’s arms didn’t develop could also show any complications Jaxon may experience in the future. It could take up to a year for the results of these tests to come back.

Right now, Jaxon requires 24-hour care and his Mother is his primary caregiver. He has occupational therapy every other week at Children’s Hospital. While Medicaid has been good in his early care, prosthetics will have to be paid for mainly by the parents. To help alleviate some of the many expenses the family will incur, we started this Go Fund Me page. This money generated will solely be used for Jaxon- to help pay for his care, travel, medical bills, education and eventually prosthetics. Please consider donating to such a wonderful little boy!
