For those of you that are fortunate enough to know our Dad, you know that he is a true fighter. He has been through more than his share of challenging medical diagnoses. Well, there is yet another one; Stage IV gastric cancer.
Our Dad is yet again prepared to fight, but he needs your help. We are exploring alternative cancer therapies, and since they are “alternative” they are not covered by insurance. Even some of the approved therapies are not fully covered, so we have bills for his chemotherapy, scans as well as injections.
A little background...the first HUGE fight our Dad faced was in October 1996, when a headache he had for almost a week ended up being a brain aneurysm that ruptured (subarachnoid hemorraghe of a cerebral brain aneurysm). A very loooooong story short, my Dad should NOT have survived this catastrophic event but, he did and with minimal defecits. He had to re-learn everything, yes everything- how to tie his shoes, how to eat, get dressed, walk etc.
This man is a “saint” according to his aneurysm support group members. People also say he is amazing; a true survivor, giving, the list goes on!
This man is my son’s best friend; even at the age of 10, he curls up on his Papa’s lap to show him a video on youtube, they go fishing, they play chess, they truly are best friends. RJ sees him almost everyday and on the days he doesn’t, he immediately asks when he can see Papa.
