Help Scott Fight Cancer
Don protégé
My dear brother, Scott Willingham, has been diagnosed with primary squamous cell carcinoma of the parotid (salivary gland), which is a rare aggressive malignancy. On December 31st, the first surgery occurred to remove the malignant tumor from the right side of his face. Fortunately, only one nerve was lost in this procedure. On January 5th, the first reconstruction surgery will take place with skin grafts planned from his back and left arm. He will also have 5 out of 6 lymph nodes removed, as well as reconstruction of his eyelid. At this time, it is not known the number of surgeries that will be needed. It is known that at least a month of radiation followed by chemotherapy are to occur following the reconstruction procedures.
Five years ago, Scott accepted a request from a friend with advanced congestive heart failure to care for his child if he died. Shortly thereafter, this young father’s heart sadly failed. My brother sincerely believes that this young 8-year-old was placed in his care for a destined reason. Scott has taken his fatherly role seriously: working with the child’s academics, scouting, taekwondo, extended family activities, museums, etc. He has made a difference in this child’s life and welcomed a new member to our family.
To offset the worrisome financial burdens of ongoing significant medical procedures, and the challenges of not being able to work, our family decided to establish a GO FUND ME fundraiser for Scott. He was an Eagle Scout at the young age of 15, is now a man of Faith, and is presently facing the most serious challenge of his life at the age of 67. Scott has frequently contributed to the needs of others…often anonymously.
Please consider contributing to the Scott Willingham GO FUND ME.
Gratefully,
Elaine Willingham Schoyen
