Funeral expenses for Roger Hutchison

We are all shocked at the sudden passing of Roger "Pops." Not really sure where to start or what to do. He was an amazing man, full of life. He was the kindest man I have ever known, and was kind and generous to those he knew and loved. His favorite things in life were football, looking for stuff at auction, his son and his grandson who is his world, and pride and joy - his little buddy.
Pops was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (a pre-leukemia) in January 2017. There is no cure for MDS, but there are treatment options and hope for a long life with this awful disease. Hope is what we had, we hoped and prayed his options would work. He began treatment in January, only to discover it wasn't working like we expected. So he was placed on chemotherapy in June. It would be a lifelong treatment because if he stopped, there was a tremendous chance of his condition developing into full leukemia. This was his off treatment week, but he wasn't feeling well. He went into the office Wednesday, July 5, for a check up, they assessed him, gave him fluids to help him feel better and said they would check for any possible infection. Thursday morning it was discovered his blood cultures came back positive for sepsis, an infection in the blood, and he needed to be admitted to the hospital for antibiotics. I left work and took pops in, they got us to his room right away. We met the Hospitalist, discussed the plan and more labs were drawn as well as a chest xray. He came back from xray and sat down to eat dinner. That's when I left with Cole to head home as Dave was there with him. As I was waiting for my car in the parking lot, Dave called me back as something was wrong. By the time I got back up to the floor, they had already started cpr on pop's, however their best efforts were not enough and he was gone. The best man I have ever known was gone. We were not prepared for this at all, but I'm not sure anyone really is. He had no life insurance or anything to cover the costs.
Pop's wishes were to be cremated and didn't want anyone to fuss over him. Well, sorry pops, but we're all fussing over you right now. Any amount to help with his cremation and a celebration of life in Florida the end of August when we are down would be greatly appreciated.
We love you pops and will always love you.
