Ry's Pediatric Rheumatologist Appt

Dear Family and Friends,

This past summer we had a scare when my brother Rylan had an enlarged lymph node that raised concern.  In the process to discover what was happening my brother had numerous sonograms, a CT scan, and a lot of bloodwork.  Ultimately it was determined he had to have a surgical biopsy to rule out cancer. It is with GREAT RELIEF our family was told the biopsy was benign. We thought we were done, however right after the good news and surgery my brother began getting high fevers every night, extreme fatigue, and unusual aches and pains.  This led to an emergency room visit and again numerous scans and bloodwork.  After a month of these symptoms he was put on a steroid which has currently made him feel healthy again. Sadly, the journey is not over.  My parents are taking Rylan to Stanford Children’s hospital this week, as Reno does not have a pediatric rheumatologist so they need to travel.   It is still unknown what he has and what his diagnosis is at this time. 

I have decided to create this as my parents work very hard, and do anything that they possibly can to keep Rylan and I healthy. Rylan and I being healthy has always been the most important thing to my parents. My parents have always wanted to make sure that Ry and I are able to chase down our dreams and passions while also living a long healthy life. With that being said, it has financially been an extremely challenging past couple of months for my parents. With all the medical bills and now the cost of travel, and possible treatment that my brother is going to need. I am just doing what I can to help my family and get my brother the medical care and things he needs. It is hard to be across the country during these times and away from my family in times of need. That is why I have taken the time to reach out to all my friends and family. Any support in any shape or form is greatly appreciated and will all go towards helping pay for my brother's medical bills and cost of travel for going down to Stanford. This Thursday is the scheduled date of the appointment. I wish I had more answers and explanations to what is going on with Rylan, but I will keep everyone posted and relay the information as I receive it as well. Again, nothing is expected but anything helps. Do not be afraid reach out to me anytime.
