Ronda “Yasmine” Gough is a loving wife, mother, grandmother, an avid reader, and expert knitter. She has a smile that is contagious, a wicked sense of humor, tenacious spirit, beautiful soul, and is one of the strongest people you could ever meet.
On December 11th, Ronda suffered a brain hemorrhage while visiting her husband’s family in New Mexico.
Ronda was transported via Life Flight from a hospital in Alamogordo, New Mexico to where the nearest neurosurgeon could be found in El Paso, Texas.
Ronda underwent surgery to repair the bleed in the cerebellum portion of her brain and minimize any further complications. After her surgery an MRI showed that Ronda has also experienced a large stroke in the right hemisphere of her brain as well as several smaller strokes, throughout.
Ronda has still not awoken from her ordeal and is receiving assistance breathing, but has squeezed her husband’s hand and the doctors and nurses are optimistic about her condition. They will not know the extent of the damages that the bleed and strokes have caused until she wakes up and is coherent.
However, once she wakes up and dependent upon her condition, Ronda is still looking at multiple weeks in the ICU in El Paso and multiple months in the hospital and rehab.
Her recovery is going to be long and arduous, but Ronda is known for her strong spirit and strength.
But here is the catch...
El Paso is roughly 1,600 miles from Ronda and Dave’s home in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dave has already made the trip back and forth in the week since Ronda was admitted, but the 23 hour drive, each way, is grueling for someone who is under the stress of having their spouse extremely ill and in the hospital.
With all the details of Ronda’s recovery still up in the air until she wakes up and doctors can evaluate the damage the bleed and strokes have caused, it is understandably not feasible for Dave to return to Jacksonville to work.
Life goes on in situation like this, bills must be paid and expenses must be covered.
