Don protégé
My name is Steven McArthur and my wife Yvonne Mcarthur. We're writing here today on behalf of our son Ryan Mcarthur. Our son Ryan is 21 years old and currently at the Hamilton General hospital due to a devastating and life changing event that occurred June 22,2016. On that day, Ryan was rushed to the hospital due to a stroke on the right side of his brain from a blood clot that broke off from a blood clot that formed on his heart. The blood clot was removed from the right side of his brain. The right bone flap was removed from his head due to the swelling in his brain from the stroke. Ryan has been diagnosed with viral myocarditis, which has reduced his heart function down to 10% pumping capacity.
With both traumatic events with our son Ryan, he is able to still be here today. At this point, Ryan's heart function has increased from 10% to 20% pumping capacity. Ryan is able to function with his right side. Ryan can remember, write and communicate by mouthing words with the tracheostomy at this time. Ryan's story is long and complex being in he hospital for 4 months. Ryan needs to gain weight to build up his immune system to gain strength to fight off infections and to further treatment. He is currently in the ICU.
Ryan is an amazing person, he is a warm, kind, gentle and caring person and we want nothing but the best for him. Ryan had just graduated from Mohawk college with a diploma in business with honours a week before the tragic event. He has two younger brothers, Brandon and Tyler. These two look up to Ryan and think the world of him and what he has accomplished in life. Ryan is very health conscious and worked out and ate right to stay fit and healthy. He was a healthy young man until the devastating event in June.
We are trying to find specialists to help Ryan recover and get treatment as he is fighting for his life every day. Our family does not leave his side, just hoping for a miracle. Our family is asking for your help to get Ryan's story across, as we need somewhere to turn for support and prayers for our son. This is such a standstill as it is such a rare case. Any support possible is greatly appreciated, we hope you keep Ryan in your thoughts and prayers.
