It is with a heavy heart that I am creating this GoFundMe page today. This past week it has come to the attention of the Bortschellers neighbors that they have had to move Seth into hospice this week. Seth is a 17 year old boy who has been fighting cancer since he was a sophomore in high school. Seth was diagnosed with Lymphoma his sophomore year of high school. However, on April 8th Seth was admitted to the hospital due to his extreme exhaustion and unusual blood work. On April 9th Seth and his family were told that he had a recurrence of his cancer and that it is now leukemia (because it’s in the bone marrow). Just as he was finishing a round of chemo they were informed that Seth had MULTIPLE bone marrow donors. (you have to show a regression in your cancer with chemo before they will perform the bone marrow transplant) On may 29th Seth's mom shared on facebook that they had not made any progress, and that his cancer has not responded to the treatment. On June 5th Seth’s mom took to facebook to share the hard news they had received she stated “...We have had to move Seth into hospice this week. He had an anaphylactic reaction to the last chemo med that could offer hope for remission.” Our hearts are heavy as we all pray for a miracle.
In the words of Seth's mom “There are really no words, there is nothing about us that is ok. The only thing that keeps us going is Seth. Now is the time to let nothing go unsaid, live today as if it’s your last, do what gives you joy, enjoy what you have around you and know that God is bigger than all of this".
