Hi I'm Sammi, I'm 41 years old and I Live in Portland, Oregon.
On March 09, 2021,I underwent a life saving Kidney Transplant operation, and it has not only saved my life but changed my perspective on everything I ever thought was important in life.
4 years ago I was chasing my dreams and working my way up the ladder in Hollywood on various television shows. I even made it as far as an associate producer on a traveling Food Network show.
All of my dreams came to a crashing haunt when I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure and quickly escalated within a year to stage 5 and I had to start dialysis treatments to stay alive. I had very few options that I could do but the care team told me that I could undergo a transplant and get back to living a normal life, but that I would have to put in a lot of hard work. And I did just that. I dropped 150 lbs to reach the weight goal for the transplant waitlist, and then I took my story to TikTok where I was able to find a living donor who went through the entire process with me to get signed up, screened and approved. We both had our surgeries on Tuesday March 09, 2021. She had hers in Atlanta, Georgia and I had mine here in Portland at Good Samaritan.
We are both healing nicely and I can already feel my life changing and re-energizing! I cannot wait to go back out into the world and make a difference!
I am raising money because through all of this I have had some hospital and health care bills pop up and being on disability isn’t enough to cover them. I can barely afford my rent and cell phone every month.
