DJ Carlos needs our love & support

I am reaching out to all you old House Heads because one of our dearest  needs our love and support.   DJ Carlos suffered a tremendous loss a few months ago when his beloved father passed.  He was living with him and his brother.  Brother  dynamics got very hard and tense  and Carlos had to leave his home.  He has been staying in a city homeless shelter for 3 weeks while trying to find solid work.  He confided in me that the shelter was very scary to stay in- lots of angry mentally ill people.   He had spoken to management many times about the lack of safety there and they made no changes to ensure better security.  Saturday morning, Carlos awoke to find that someone had cut his hair in the middle of the night!   This is assault and yet the management would not step in.   This is when Carlos reached out to me and others in our community, asking for temporary place to stay, if even for a few days.

Carlos is going to school 4 days a week for a one year program  at the City College of San Francisco for drug counseling. He has 6 months left before he receives his certification.  He has been doing all this even amidst the death of his father and his homelessness

I was able to put him up in a hotel ( Europa Hotel ) for a few nights so he could get some good rest after all the stressful sleepless nights-  and this is where you all come in- I want to get him a  month or more stay at another cheaper hotel.  The cost per month is 400$  for The Norma Hotel in the Mission. so that he can have a quiet place to rest and begin to rebuild after his father's passing.  Anything will help!

I've actually just edited the original financial goal because of all you wonderful people that have donated in the last 24 hours – I realize that perhaps we can raise enough to get him first month, last month and security deposit for an apartment somewhere locally. His mother is coming from El Salvador next month and their hope is that they can live together.

This is a strong community of like minded folk who came together in the spirit of dance, love and acceptance. Let's pull together for one of the most loved DJ's of our youth.   Thank you all for sharing!
