Ruth's Trip to Kenya

HI, I am Ruth Graham and excited for the opportunity to serve orphans and street children in Kenya. I have always dreamed to go on a mission trip and now I have an amazing opportunity to serve in a unique way.
The goal of this trip is to build relationships and further the strategic plan of getting orphans off the streets of Kitale and into loving families, preferably back to their original family if reconciliation is possible. I will be going with a team, and have the opportunity to work with the reconciliation efforts happening through Agape Children’s Ministries. This is done by serving the children in a transition home and locating extended family members. If a family member is not found then a safe family is the next option. We will help to pave the way for Agape to open up a second center in Kitale.
As a team, we’re going to connect and strengthen relationships with ministries who care for street kids and children who are abandoned. We will visit ministry partners in Kitale, Kenya, provide trauma training for pastors and caregivers, and connect Agape leaders with our water and agriculture partners. We’ll build relationships with pastoral staff in local churches under the leadership of Bishop Amos, learn more about the water projects happening in Kenya, visit various models of outreach such as Sister Freida’s medical center and Girl’s School and Precious Kid’s Center.
While I will help where I am needed, my focused part of the trip will be to provide trauma training for the caregivers. This training will include trauma's effects on the children and how to help the children heal. I will be providing this training to the families and caregivers helping to place the children in safe places and families.
The trip will be April 1 through April 16, 2018. However, the funds will need to be in beginning January 2018. For this trip to be possible, I am asking for help to raise my funds to go. I am super excited to serve others in this way and cannot go without your help. Your support will make this dream a possibility. I am grateful for any amount you can give towards my funds needed.
