Rushtons Running for a Breast Cancer Vaccine

Donation protected
Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer, with 1 in 8 Canadian women developing it in their lifetime. It affects so many people and so many families, and now it’s affecting ours. Our sister Caitlin was recently diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, and is undergoing treatment.

Despite recent advancements, triple negative breast cancer can be more challenging to treat, and the best way to fight breast cancer lies in the research being done. The Canadian Cancer Society is one organization that is working to develop new more effective treatments. A team led by Dr. Lee-Hwa Tai are working on developing an immunotherapy vaccine that will improve treatment of triple-negative breast cancer and reduce the risk of re-occurrence (see link below).

A group of us are running the Vancouver Half Marathon to support her and fundraise towards research being done on breast cancer at the Canadian Cancer Society. Caitlin has handled more than her share of discomforts, challenges and tough days over the last several months, so we figured the least we could do was take on an uncomfortable 21kms and raise some funds and awareness.
