Help Anna Get The Surgery She Needs

Donation protected
Hello everyone, our beloved Anna & her mom need our help.

Anna's mom has been incredible over the past 12 months, but we feel it's time she had some support from her worldwide family who love Anna like their own. This year alone she has paid out over $5,000 in various vets bills, scans and physiotherapy treatments separate from her pet insurance.

Here is why Anna needs our help...

As all of you know, Anna's mom saved her from kennels when Anna was a baby, which means that we know nothing about her breeding, family history or what she went through the first few months of her life.
Around a year ago, Anna started displaying signs of discomfort and pain in her back legs so after x-ray's the vets suggested hydrotherapy and medication as a way of using her body without putting pressure on her achy joints and managing the pain.

In March 2023, Anna's mobility took a significant turn for the worst to the point she couldn't put weight on her back legs, let alone run around or try to be the normal happy 3 year old dog that she is.

Following multiple sedated X-rays, CT scans and second opinions, Anna was diagnosed with Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD), Hip Dysplasia AND Bilateral Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) tears.

Since diagnosis in March 2023, Anna's mom has persevered with hydrotherapy once a week, physiotherapy twice a month and two forms of daily pain medication along side regular vets visits to monitor her symptoms in the hope of avoiding major surgery in such a young dog.

We are devastated that the worst has happened over the last 7 days and Anna has relapsed into being completely unable to put weight on her back right leg.
After further sedated x-rays this week and two separate vets being in agreement, it is time for Anna to undergo surgery.

Within the surgery, the vets are going to repair her Cruciate Ligament in two places. In a bit more detail, they are changing the angle of the top of the shin bone by cutting the bone, rotating it, and stabilising it in a new position with a plate and screws which may need to be removed in the future once she is fully healed - sorry if you're squeamish!

After the surgery, Anna has a LONG road to recovery ahead of her with 24/7 care, pain medication, rehabilitation, weekly vets trips and will have to learn how to walk again.

Surgery is booked for 24th October with a specialist clinic and is estimated to cost $5,695 + AFTERCARE. (UPDATE: following Anna’s recent vet visit prior to her surgery, abnormalities were suspected in her elbow which will call for additional testing and radiographs to be performed on her surgery date)

For many of you wondering... YES, Anna is insured but she has already reached over the yearly limit on her policy which her mom never expected, for such a young, happy and healthy dog.

We know you all love sweet Anna as much as we do and now it's time to pull through for her mom, who is already doing so much for her.

We will post updates on her, as and when we have them.

If you have read this far... thank you, we love you.
