Rural Literacy Tutoring Scholarships

Hi everyone!
My name is Casey and I moved to a small rural village in Upstate New York called Montour Falls 2 years ago so that I could open a little vegan cafe and bakery with my partner. Prior to that, I was a K-5 teacher in New York City, specializing in Literacy, for 16 years.
It did not take very long after opening the cafe to realize that even though I may have left the classroom, I couldn’t leave behind my passion for working with people who are struggling to learn how to read and to write.
I decided to start my own literacy tutoring practice! I love that it is an opportunity to help people learn to read and write, or improve their confidence with reading and writing, and it is also a way for me to keep practicing what I have dedicated so many years to learning.
When people come to me for tutoring, it includes assessments to determine strengths and needs and then explicit instruction based upon the results of the assessments, as well as regular reports detailing progress. If desired, it also includes dialogue journal supplies including 2 notebooks, highlighters, an eraser, sticky notes, pencils, & a supply pouch as well as pen pal supplies including a package in the mail of letter writing materials, personalized letters and postcards written to the person by myself, and personalized responses to their correspondence in the mail.
I would love to be able to offer scholarships to children who need private literacy tutoring but whose families are not able to afford it. A donation of $40 would provide a full scholarship for a child to receive one 60-minute private literacy tutoring session. A donation of $20 would provide a 50% scholarship.
More about my background:
I am certified in Childhood Education for 1st-6th Grades and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) for grades K-12. I have two Masters Degrees including one in Literacy for birth - 6th Grade and another in Foreign Language Education and TESOL.
I am trained in Orton Gillingham and I am currently in the process of getting certified at the Associate B Level working with an Orton Gillingham Fellow. I have completed my courses and I am currently participating in the practicum.
