Running 500 miles for Mirek's dream

We are a married couple that decided to run Camino de Santiago in August this year, the French Way, in order to support our disabled friend in fundraising for his treatment. It’s 500 miles journey that, as the first ever couple, we are going to make in only 10 days, covering this distance in self-support manner.
Running 500 miles for Mirek’s dream. We think that Mirek can describe his dream the best – a dream to walk again – so please read his story below.

Mirek’s Story:
Hello, my name is Miroslaw (Mirek) Hetmaski, I’m 37 and I live in Poland (Katowice). Until I was 31 my life was totally different from what it is now. I had plans for the future, like everyone else. I worked in a mine, I was planning to have a family and I was interested in many things like sports, cars, motorbikes, movies, music and helping others. Unfortunately on 12th March 2011 my life turned upside down. While driving my motorbike I hit into a car. Luckily no one else got hurt. Just me, and the vehicles.
In this accident I suffered multi-organ injuries, spinal fractures and spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia. Since then I move in a wheelchair and I need assistance of others in every day functioning. In order to improve my condition I would need an expensive rehabilitation and I cannot afford this. My only income is the State benefit which barely covers day-to-day bills and expenses.
Every day I try to exercise to the extend I can on my own, but I need a proper treatment to have a chance to stand on my feet again. My dream is to be able to walk again, even with support or with crutches – just to stand up on my own and be able to live independently. I believe this will happen one day and then my main goal is to help others in need. I experienced how fragile life is and I truly believe that good you do always has a way to come back to you.
I know that with your help I can have a chance to realize these dreams. I will appreciate any help you can offer.
The monthly cost of rehabilitation is EUR 750. Of course, the longer the treatment the better results. But if thanks to your generosity I could at least go for 6 months treatment this would make a lot of difference.
