Running Cardiff Half

Back in 2011 my beautiful Nan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. By my Grandads side she has fought to keep on living her life to the absolute full. Sadly in 2016 my Grandad, my Nans husband of 60 years passed away after a short illness. So my Nan and I teamed up to carry on with the fight against dementia. With a toddler, a baby and Home of my own looking after my Nan because increasingly difficult. Visits were getting more like chores than the fun days we used to have. So this year my wonderful Nan had to be taken in to a home. It was one of the most difficult things to do, looking for my Nans next home. Leaving the house she had lived in her whole adult life, I had to make sure the residential home was the best it could be. 
Then came Blaen-Y-Plant. This home has given me and my Nan our relationship back. I can now have my best friend back. I haven’t lost my Nan to Blaen-Y-Pant I’ve gained a bigger family, more Nans and Grandads I can count. We’ve spoken to them all and what they would really love is to spend some more time outside. So I am running the Cardiff half marathon to give them what they want. They would love to improve their gardens, they want to see more birds, they would love the chance to feed them. Everything they would do if they lived in their homes they left behind. So please, whatever you can give will honestly make a difference.
