I'm running the Amsterdam marathon for the Ted Senior Foundation. More specifically, I'm running for Ted.
Suicide statistics in this country are shocking. They're terrifying. But up until a month ago that's all that suicide was to me. A shocking, terrifying statistic. An abstract concept, a number, a graph, something that really needs changing, but not something that I thought I really had time to change myself.
So when I saw these statistics I shook my head, muttered 'that's awful', and carried on with my life without even beginning to really think beyond the numbers, about all the families and friends who's lives would be changed forever by every single one of those tragic 'statistics'.
Then on the 10th of February, my life was changed forever. The amount of pain I've been through in the last 6 weeks is impossible to put into words. What I do know, is that whatever I've experienced, it's nothing compared to what Ted's family, Syd, Diana, Max and Rosie, have been through.
Ted was an incredible friend to everyone, a special son and special brother. He was the kindest, funniest man I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I miss him every day and that won't stop. But the more I miss him the more I know we have to keep going, keep laughing and never stop helping others in these cruelest of times.
Ted's brother Max has set up a foundation in Ted's name. Please help me raise money by donating just a few pounds to help to prevent this happening to other families. Knowing I'm helping will motivate me through training and help me remember Ted for the amazing person he was. Please see beyond the statistics and donate today.
