Running 42k marathon to raise $$ for limbs4life

Hi there beautiful people,

My partner and I at the 12 week scan we were told by the doctor that our baby girl had not developed a right arm from the shoulder down. After weeks of visits to the Royal Women’s Hospital for scans, blood tests and genetic counselling. The doctor has reported that they are confident that it was caused by a vascular incident which occurs within the first couple of weeks of her life. Basically, blood flow that is necessary to grow the limbs didn’t get to where it needed to, so her arm never formed. The doctors told us that this happens at complete random and has no official causes or preventions. It occurs completely by chance.

Other than her arm though, they reckon she is completely healthy, which is the most important thing.

When we were told the news that our little girl was missing her right arm, Emma and I struggled through feelings of anger, grief, sadness and mate I cried sooo many times just thinking about the things my little angel my not be able to do. The thought of her not loving herself because her appearance is a bit different absolutely broke my heart.

its been weeks since the news and now we are so excited to meet this little girl that has already caused her dad to turn grey within 17 weeks of her life (potentially a world record).

We have set goals as first time parents to give little darling the best opportunities in life and prove to her that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

annnnnd that’s why we are here…

I will be putting on the tight lycra running attire, those funky running sunglasses, tying up my running shoes and partaking in the Nike Melbourne full Marathon.

it’s 42 kilometres or running with the finish line being on the MCG.

I am running this marathon raising money for Limbs for Life which have a national program which now is close to our hearts ‘Limbs 4 kid’

“Limbs 4 Kids is a national program that supports parents of children born with limb deficiencies and children or adolescents who undergo an amputation early in life.”

The goal is to reach $4,200 which is $100 for each k.

thank you everyone for your kind words, support and donations.

Our little girl has an incredibly bright future and she is going to be so so talented at left armed arm wrestles soo watch out xoxo
