Running for Resilience & Recovery
Tax deductible
Friends, family, and anyone in between: I am training
to run a half marathon in Cape Town, South Africa October 13, 2013 and NEED
YOUR HELP!! All of your donations will
go straight to Lionhearted Kids, a developing non-profit organization that is slowly
growing near to my heart. Beyond
training each week for the half marathon, I have started volunteering through
Lionhearted Kids at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town.
I have grown up with a passion to work with kids and I am privileged to do so in a hospital setting in South Africa. I will be working with different patients over the course of the semester through interactive play. I have intentions of going into the Child Life field when I am done with school making this opportunity one I cannot pass up!
Lionhearted Kids is a non-profit organization that believes in building upon the strengths and resiliency of the child, family, and community. They hold firmly to the inherent wisdom that exists within each of us collectively and cross-culturally. Therefore, the role of the therapist and supporter is to work alongside community members as facilitators rather than as foreign informants. Regardless of one's country of origin or belief system, they believe that the experience of one's own reflection in another human being is essential to understanding our interconnectedness, developing compassion, and embracing our humanity.

Thank you so much for all of your help, it means a lot not only to me but to everyone who you are helping here in South Africa!
