RUN FOR VIETNAMESE ACTIVISTS
Tax deductible
Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page. My name is Ella and I'm a TV Producer and Human Rights activist. This year I’m running 5 charity races to support female activists in Vietnam. I aim to raise $5000 in order to make a documentary about their everyday fight for human rights.
Currently, there are 15 female political prisoners held in jail and many activists face ongoing harassment by the state. Activists in Vietnam, especially those who are not fluent in English, receive very little attention in international media. Sharing their voices with a broader audience is a way to protect them, as the government is less likely to take harsh measures against well-known activists.
With my charity, The 88 Project , we’re planning to publish a series of interviews with eight Vietnamese female activists at risk. Once the episodes are available online, we will promote them among audiences in Vietnam and abroad to encourage them to take action and support peaceful dissidents. All the money raised will be used towards the direct expenses of the project. We need to hurry, as activists in Vietnam are facing an intensified and violent crackdown by the government - this massive torture in broad daylight by the police in June 2018 in the middle of Ho Chi Minh city is just one example of this worrisome trend.
Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing updates on this campaign and about my awareness runs. If you'd like to help, please click on donate or just share the link to this page with your contacts. Thank you in advance for your time and support!
