The Story:

Ruhani & Dolma is a sci-fi love story about a brilliant quantum physicist who abandons Science & turns to religion in the quest to prove that parallel dimensions exist, choosing to adopt a spiritual path as a Buddhist nun.

Dr. Ruhani transforms into Dolma the nun and meets her soulmate, Dev, with whom she shares a profound connection. Torn between her commitment to her spiritual vows and her desire to be with Dev, she realizes that her quest to uncover parallel dimensions is, in fact, a deeply internal journey. This revelation becomes the key to ultimately finding the answers she has been seeking.

Funding:

We are raising funds to make a 15-20 minute short. All the money raised will go towards paying the cast, crew, equipment, location, travel & boarding expenses around the film. The crew will consist of a Cinematographer and their team, a Casting Director, a Costume Director, a Production Designer, a Line Producer, Executive Producer, Location staff, Sound Designer & Composer, Editor, etc.

You can hire me for your own film-making project. I will not charge anything for my services as a Writer/Director. I will also advise on Distribution & Marketing, however, out-of-pocket expenses (such as flights, visa, accommodation for me) will have to be covered. Cost of production/ equipment/ crew/ post production will not be included in this.

A bit about me:

I am an aspiring filmmaker, whose first film won her the Best Direction award amongst 2700+ films at the Nikon Film Festival in Paris and consequently got selected for the Short Film Corner Catalogue at the 77th Festival de Cannes.

I worked in media and marketing for 15 years until the end of 2023, when I quit my job to pursue my passion in filmmaking. I was deeply dissatisfied with the value I was creating through my work and was challenging to find my Ikigai for a long time. With my first film, I made it to the Cannes Short Film Corner catalogue and had the good fortune of attending the festival. However, my film was not an official selection or in the competition. I now want to create a film that is worthy of being selected by the most prestigious Film Festivals in the world, to launch my career as a filmmaker and follow my Ikigai.

Why should you help me make it to Cannes?

Independent filmmakers have to work twice as hard to be seen and recognized for their work. It's a hugely competitive field, dominated by the established production houses. Making a film of professional caliber requires funds to hire the right team and equipment which I cannot do alone.

This is about supporting a woman in cinema, who is a newbie in the field with big dreams and passion. Can you think of more than 5 female directors?
