It was a few days before Thanksgiving this year that Ruca went on his nightly adventure, only this time things went terribly wrong. While I wasn't there to see the attack, my roomates woke up to find my living room and bedroom in a gruesome scene.
My 8 year old cat somehow escaped a brutal coyote attack, hobbled home and came inside to find shelter. My roomates rushed him to the animal hospital while I awaited a call of sadness or a call of a miracle (I was away, visiting my family for the holiday).
He has a laundry list of injuries and life-saving treatmets:
-> 2 Major lacerations to front leg & stomach
-> Exposed muscular tissue
-> Bite to abdominal area
-> Fluid in lungs
-> Oxygen treatment and incubation
-> Blood transfusion

....the list goes on. It's safe to say that Ruca has been through hell and back. I have him home with me and the road to recovery is long. We were so lucky to have such a strong team of Verenarian Technicians safe his life.
As you can imagine, a life-threatening coyote attack comes with a substantial bill. In total, his vetinary bills have reached over $8,000 and may contiune to grow.
I'm beyond grateful that Ruca was strong enough to escape--and strong enough to survive. He's a very special cat that has shown unconditional love his entire life.
Having your help with these bills will ensure that we can complete future medical treatments and a possible surgery to remove dead tissue from his front leg. While we're not quite out of the woods yet, I have faith that his miracle survival will continue to to a healthy recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to read Ruca's story. He and I are so grateful for your help.
