Rosalie's Heart Healing Fund

Donation protected
This GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help with medical bills, expenses and care for baby Rosalie Harper Franck.

On Monday, November 10, 2014 Rosalie came into this world and captured the hearts of her parents, Carl and Jessica, and all those around her.  She was a little bitty thing, beautiful and perfect.  However, the day after she was born, doctors discovered that Rosalie’s heart wasn’t working as it should and was transported to Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC.  She was diagnosed with a complex and rare congenital heart defect called Double Inlet Left Ventricle (DILV) as well as Hypoplastic Right Ventricle.   First time parents, Carl and Jessica were told the devastating news that Rosalie would need to undergo three open heart surgeries by the time she was 2 years old.   Each surgery would be more involved than the one before.

The first surgery was scheduled for that Friday, November 14th - just 4 short days after birth.  The surgery went well and doctors and nurses expected Rosalie to be at Children’s Hospital for a month, but little Rosalie is a fighter.  She surprised everyone with how well she recovered and was able to go home much earlier than expected.   She went home with equipment for Mom and Dad to monitor her oxygen levels and would have weekly visits to the cardiologist.

On April 11, 2015 Rosalie’s oxygen levels dipped below 50% and she was taken to the local emergency room and later flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital for further testing.  After a week in the hospital and a few days at home Rosalie spiked a fever and was unable to maintain her oxygen levels.  She was taken back to Children’s Hospital where she would remain until well enough for the second surgery.  Her little body was telling the doctors it was time.  At only 5 months old this very sweet little girl will have open heart surgery tomorrow (April 29th).

The emotional support from family and friends has been paramount in helping Carl and Jessica during this difficult time.   They have overcome so many hurdles already in such a short time, and they have so many more yet to face.  Jessica is now a “stay at home mom” so that she can be home to give Rosalie the care and special attention she needs. While I know they would not ask for it, the family could really use some financial help.  Any small act of kindness and generosity will be a blessing and so gratefully appreciated.

Prayers are also requested for Rosalie, her family, the doctors and the nurses.  God Bless.
