Accident Recovery Fund for Trinity Tran

Donation protected

Help for our dear friend Trinity Tran.  For those that know Trinity, a non-stop advocate of the people, always at the forefront  of the issues whose ultimate goal is benefitting communities.

On September 6, 2020, Trinity was involved in an unfortunate hiking accident at Switzer Falls, Angeles National Forest and plummeted  72 feet.  She was airlifted to the Pasadena Memorial ICU in critical condition. After multiple surgeries she’s in stable condition and on the long road to recovery.  Her doctors advise that she should be in the hospital for another few weeks and will be sent to a rehabilitation facility for an additional stay as she regains mobility, strength and learns to walk again.  Once the facility releases her, she’ll be sent home for recovery and outpatient physical therapy for approximately six months.  She’ll need a lot of help, but with all the support from her loved ones and friends, she’ll be back to normal in no time.

From day one of the pandemic she has been on the frontlines coordinating Urban Partners Los Angeles food distribution in the Southland responsible for distributions close to three million pounds of food since the pandemic.  UPLA is the largest food bank in Los Angeles operating in one of the most dense and poor areas of the city.

We all knew Trinity as an amazing advocate long before the pandemic. The Trinity we saw after Covid-19 was a fierce warrior who fought tooth and nail to make sure no one left the UPLA food bank without groceries for the whole week. She not only cared but embraced this community as her own and fought and lead every week to ensure that they would have food  on their tables, every single day. At the end of the day all we have is each other. We all know she would be there for us. Now it's time we be there for her!

Trinity is a well known leader in the Public Banking Movement and is co-founder of Public Bank Los Angeles and the California Public Banking Alliance.  Most recent, her voice, advocacy and leadership led to Governor Newsom signing the historic Public Banking Bill AB857.

VOICES OF THE COMMUNITY

”Trinity Tran has fought her career standing up for the people who don’t always have their voices heard. She is proof that community organizing can not only effect real change in the City of Los Angeles, but in the State of California. I wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to finishing our work together on Public Bank here in LA.” Herb J. Wesson, Jr., Los Angeles City Council Member.

“Trinity is a humble servant who has worked to change the lives of our most vulnerable while also being a leader on many social and economic justice issues. Her love for her community and beyond has inspired me and countless others to do even more for those in need. While she would never ask, it is our community that she has helped to build that can come together to provide her with a tiny fraction of the help she has given to countless others,” said Dr. Paul Song a friend and Medicare for All Advocate.

“Trinity has been a fierce advocate for the working class.  She has been a leader and a partner in Public Banking, Housing, the Environment, Climate Change among other social justice causes.  She’s well known and respected in the community as well as in the grassroots, political and civic circles.  Trinity has stood for and with us, fighting for our causes, it’s time we stand with her in her time of need, said Carlos Marroquín, a friend and community organizer.

At this time Trinity and her family are focusing on her recovery and are asking for privacy.   Thank you for your support.
