Meet Fyness; A 17-year-old girl who lives in Mchinji Village, Malawi. She desperately needs your generosity and here’s how you can help:
Fyness’s story:
Fyness was brought to the Home of Hope orphanage after she lost both her parents at a very young age. Sadly, she was born with a debilitating condition that affected the formation of her bones which left her unable to walk.
It used to take Fyness hours to reach school everyday, because she used to walk there on her knees. For safety reasons, she only spent a short time there each day before she returned home to avoid being on the streets in the dark. Sadly, she was only able to reach grade 4 due to the time lost travelling to and from school.
While Fyness was safe at the Home of Hope orphanage, it was difficult for her to keep up with the other children as her movements were inhibited. As a result of this, she spent majority of her time in her dormitory.
The turning point:
In August 2016, Fyness was given the gift of being able to walk for the first time in her life thanks to our incredible sponsors who made it all possible. Fyness travelled to Blantyre to undergo surgery at Biet Cure Hospital. The surgeons performed an operation to correct her bone deformity and four weeks after this surgery, Fyness took her first steps.
The next chapter:
Due to complications with her orthopedic implant, Fyness requires a second surgery followed by intensive rehabilitation and recovery. Without surgery, Fyness is at risk of losing her newfound ability to walk.
This is why we need you. Fyness’s story doesn’t end here and we are believing she will get the surgery she needs, and more.
If you would like to sow into the life of Fyness, please help us raise the funds needed for her second surgery. We would also like to set up a college fund for Fyness to access once she has completed her high school education. She is incredibly motivated to finish her studies and expresses her hope of one day becoming a doctor so she can help other children walk.
We urgently need $3000 to cover the costs of the surgery by the end of the month
