Roy's Mobility Chair

Donation protected
Roy Hardin (age 73) was injured in a bicycle accident in February 2011which resulted in Roy becoming a quadriplegic.  He has been in a mobile chair since that time.  His caregiver is his wife Susie.

For 6 1/2 years Roy has been confined to sitting in that chair or on his back in bed with no opportunity to relieve the constant pressure on his butt causing continuing discomfort, and swelling in the legs and feet.  He has been able to stand using a “standing frame” but getting him to the standing frame and monitoring him while using the standing frame is a multi-person event.  Since he and his wife are the only ones in the household, he has very little opportunity to use the standing frame and then only for a very short period of time whenever there are adequate people available to help.

There is a new mobile chair that is available that would allow Roy to stand on his own whenever he has the need to take the pressure off, improve circulation, provide some relief and improve his quality of life.  There is a picture included that shows Roy testing the new chair which they cannot afford.

Insurance and Medicare will not pay for the chair as they decided it is not a “necessity”, therefore we are soliciting donations to help pay for the chair and improve Roy’s quality of life.

Thank you for your help.
