On March 3, 2019 tragedy struck the lives of many people, mine was one of them. A F4 tornado destroyed my life. It claimed the life of my 8 year old daughter Mykhayla Waldon and my 9 year old cousin (nephew) Jonathan Bowen. My two children, Kamorah (6) and Ariel (3) both sustained severe injuries resulting in a 3-4 week stay in Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.
Losing my daughter and having to watch my two kids suffer and grieve really took it’s toll on me. I had to remember the good things about my daughter and Johnathan. Mykhayla was so full of life! She loved to dance, she was smart, loving and caring. She made her presence known and you could definitely feel her absence. Johnathan was smart, sweet, kind, helpful, and very attentive. He loved to love!
In honoring our children, Shamel and I (Johnathan’s mother) decided to open up a dance studio. Royal House Of Klass. It may be four words but it has a lot of meaning. Royal- because Johnathan’s favorite color was royal blue.
Klass-the K in Klass is for Mykhayla (K) as I called her.
The colors incorporated inside of the studio (pink and royal blue) are Johnathan and Mykhayla’s favorite colors.
This studio has been my safe haven. It’s the same studio Mykhayla danced on her previous team. I’ve never opened a business prior, but I know I’m making a difference and showing how you can still make light of any situation placed upon you.
In just a few weeks, I’ve registered over 40 young girls to dance and be apart of our team. As you all know, with running a business anything helps. So you can find it your hearts to support a positive cause, movement, and business, we’d greatly appreciate it! Thank you all so much. ❤️
