Roxanne.....A Friend in Need......

Roxanne Lyons is an interpreter for the deaf and hard of hearing at Ralph Dunlap School.  During her long career, she has touched many lives in such a positive way. Roxanne is a people person who has a huge presence in any room she enters; always filling the room with laughter. She is not only one of the most hard working people that I know (signing at school all day, at the college at night and her church on Sundays), she is without a doubt the most selfless woman I have ever known; always putting her family and friends needs before her own.

Recently, her family experienced a tragic loss. Her son in law and daughter were hit by a semi truck while on their motorcycle, sending her daughter flying in the air and her son in law trapped under the semi-truck and drug quite a distance. Sadly, he did not survive the accident.

Roxanne has spent the past two months out of town, driving her daughter, who has injuries from the crash, to and from appointments, and supporting her granddaughters who are grieving the loss of their father. Her leave was up after 6 weeks, but as a mother, she feels that her job caring for the family is not done until her daughter is able to care for herself and her daughters. The monetary loss from taking more time without pay is adding up and becoming a huge concern for Roxanne and her family.

Roxanne is a strong woman of faith and while I know that she is in constant prayer, those of us who work with her would like to help out as best we can. Please help us take care of this wonderful friend who is always taking care of others. Even the smallest amount will help and I know that she will be appreciative beyond belief.
