Help new mummy Roxanne recover from Cancer

My name is Laura, and my dear friend Roxanne, who recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, has been diagnosed with a rare form of fast-growing cancer.

Roxanne and I have been friends since we were four years old at primary school in Croydon, UK. She's a kind, generous and loving person, who supports everyone through bad times and good. She had gorgeous baby Lara in July 2022 and was so excited to be a new mummy. Now Roxanne, husband Mark and baby Lara desperately need our help.

Roxanne suffered 4 baby losses, so when Lara survived to term and was born strong and healthy, it felt like all their dreams had come true. Roxanne has had an autoimmune neurological disease for 20 years and, when she started to feel worse and worse after Lara was born, she thought she was having a worsening of her chronic condition. In November 2022 when she started having visual disturbances, heart palpitations and severe abdominal pain, she was taken to her local hospital.

As you can imagine, it was devastating when doctors discovered a huge number of tumours in her abdomen that had already spread to her lungs. She was rushed to Charing Cross Hospital in London to undergo two weeks of intensive chemotherapy (including 14 hour infusions) followed by six months of chemo, also in London, two days a week.

Roxanne and Mark need to be supported through this awful time, and we want to raise as much money as possible so they can focus on Roxanne's recovery and raising their precious baby girl.

They will have so many expenses to face, including:

Travel and accommodation costs for hospital stays and appointments.
Unpaid leave for Mark.
Round-the-clock assistance with childcare as needed.
Support towards baby Lara's bonding and development such as baby classes.
Specialist counselling support where not available through the NHS.
Alternative therapies and treatment if the current course of chemotherapy doesn't work.

Anything raised over the fundraising goal will also go directly to baby Lara's care and to Roxanne's recovery and wellbeing.
