My name is Joseph William Conesa Purman, I am the single-scull rower for the Puerto Rican National Team. I have represented Puerto Rico in various international competitions including the World Championships, the Olympic Qualifier, Regional World Cups and next weekend I will compete at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. I would like to use my participation as an opportunity to raise money for the Puerto Rican Rowing Federation as well as for the people who have been affected most by the hurricanes Irma and Maria. Puerto Rico was gravely affected by these two hurricanes. It has been a month since the pass of the hurricanes and the island is still without clean water or electricity.
My goal is to raise money along with the Rowing Federation of Puerto Rico to help the thousands of people that were left without a home, a job or family. Additionally, we will assist with the development of rowing on the island which has been halted due to the hurricanes. Puerto Rico has the potential to become a national and international training center. With a beautiful 2k race course located on Lago Cerrillos in Ponce, Puerto Rico, teams from North, Central and South America have traveled to the island to compete in regattas. Most recently Lago Cerrillos was used by the Club Flamengo of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as a training camp for its flat protected waters.
With your help, we can rebuild the island and rowing can be restored in Puerto Rico. All proceeds and donated items will be sent directly to the Rowing Federation of Puerto Rico in San Juan (non-profit org) to help those that lost everything, repair broken equipment (ergs, boats) and infrastructure, as well as fund the transport of new donated boats from the mainland United States to the island, which have not been able to be transported because of the lack of funds. Additionally, any type of rowing equipment would be greatly appreciated.
If you would rather donate items, I will gladly accept them at the Head of the Charles Regatta and Head of the Schuylkill Regatta and send them to the island.
Let us reunite as a rowing community and help those in need!

Mi nombre es Joseph William Conesa Purman y soy remero para el equipo nacional de Puerto Rico. He representado a Puerto Rico en varias competencias nacionales e internacionales, incluyendo Mundiales, Clasificatorios Olímpicos, Copas Regionales, etc… La próxima semana remaré en la regata “Head of the Charles”, en Boston. Con mi participación me gustaría recaudar fondos para el desarrollo de la Federación de Remos de Puerto Rico e igualmente para las personas que han sido afectadas por los huracanes Irma y María. Puerto Rico fue afectado gravemente con el paso de estos huracanes.
Mi meta es lograr conseguir canalizar, junto a la Federación de Remos, ayuda para las miles de personas que quedaron sin hogar, sin trabajos y sin familia. También ayudar al desarrollo del deporte de remo en la Isla. Puerto Rico tiene el potencial de convertirse en un centro de entrenamiento nacional e internacional. En su pista, ubicada en el Lago Cerrillos en Ponce, han participado remeros de toda Norte, Centro y Suramérica. Recientemente fue utilizado por el Club Flamengo de Brasil para un acuartelamiento de entrenamiento.
Con su ayuda podemos restaurar el país y desarrollar el deporte de remo en la isla. Todas la ganancias o recolectas van a ser canalizadas por la Federación para ayudar a las personas que no tienen nada y para restaurar equipo e infraestructura afectada. Igualmente para el transporte de equipo localizado en los Estados Unidos, el cual no se ha podido transportar debido a la falta de fondos. Todo tipo de equipo de remo será bienvenido.
