Roth Family house fire

Donation protected
Hello everyone! We have had a ton of inquiries from friends and family on how they can help Haley, Cody & Stetson get back on their feet after losing their home to a fire on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

A little back story...

Haley was over at her in-law's house about 1/4 mile away for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon. When she arrived home, she grabbed Stetson from his car seat and attempted to go inside. She noticed the door wasn't opening as easy as usual, and with a little extra force, was finally able to get it open. The smoke rolling out of the house was so thick she couldn't see anything, along with a lot of pressure escaping the house.

In true Haley fashion, she had 1% battery left on her phone, in an area where cell service is almost nonexistent. She was able to get a call out to Cody who was nearby working cows and told him, "our house is on fire! Come home!" The second call was to her mother-in-law Heidi relaying the same information and telling her to call 911. Praise God both calls went through!!

Unable to physically go inside the house, Haley attempted to yell for their family dog Merle from a couple of different doors into the house with no luck. Cody and Haley's father-in-law Craig were on the scene before the fire department got there and luckily found Merle laying by the backdoor and were able to grab him. After some time attempting to waken his stiff, passed-out body, he was on his way to the Freeman vet for some after-hours care! After a couple of hours there, he perked up and was able to rejoin the family later that night. During the middle of the night, Haley noticed some regression with shallow breathing, continuous vomiting and inability to keep anything down. They took him to an ER vet in Sioux Falls where they discovered he had carbon monoxide poisoning. He spent the next 24 hours in the oxygen tank and has been under close monitoring for his high white blood cell count. He is expected to be released later today!

There is a lot to navigate these next couple of days, weeks & months to come, but we are so grateful that everyone is safe and sound! Haley, Cody & Stetson will be staying with Craig & Heidi in the meantime until they get all details worked out with insurance.

The fire department discovered the fire started in the electrical outlet wiring behind the dishwasher. The funds raised through Go Fund Me will go towards replacing all necessities as their house is considered a total loss.

This small community has already shown tremendous generosity in helping them get back on their feet. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We sure appreciate them!
