Freddy Ochaita is President (2018-2019) of Rotary Club Guatemala Metropoli and has been a member of the Club for several years in which he has held various management positions such as: Vice-president, bulletin, membership and other comittees.
He will be in charge of withdraw the funds and transfer them to the Club's bank accounts in Guatemala, so that they can be included and used in the relief activities for the victims of the Volcán de Fuego disaster.
On June 3 2018, Guatemala´s Volcán de Fuego (Fire´s Volcano) erupted violently and abruptly, killing many villagers and injuring thousands more of people. The many of the injured have lost ones, in some cases their entire families. Many are now orphans. All of them have lost their homes, possessions and ways of living.
The numbers below account for victims at the moment, however, most of the disaster relief work is ahead of us and numbers will continue to increase.

As a Rotary Club, we are always willing to help those in need. There is no better time than today to give a hand to those less fortunate than us. We are working with local authorities and emergency brigades to help all victims in shelters and injured who are in hospitals.
Our immediate objective is to collaborate by providing first responders and relief organizations with breathing masks, industrial boots, hammers, picks, shovels and any other equipment and necessary tools to carry on their activities in a more efficient and safer manner. Most of whom are ill equipped and perform this humanitarian effort at the expense of risking their own health.
As the areas most affected by the eruption are in total devastation. After the emergency, there is a long road ahead to help survivors reintegrating and going back to their “new” normal life.
With your help we will provide families with food, medicine, health services, personal supplies, all those things needed for relief and to recover back their normal way of life.
The assistance will determined after carefully assessing and evaluating specific needs and circumstances.
