The Ross Home Rescue Crew is committed to preventing the Ross family of Mattawan, MI from losing their home due to unemployment and expenses associated with the care of their 7 year old daughter Maren who is battling cancer. The Ross family has faced tremendous challenges. Their story of ongoing battling is incredible. Prior to Maren's diagnosis, her father Howard was laid off from his plastics engineering job and her mother Valerie discovered she had two brain aneurysms while pregnant with their fifth child. Surgery was done to coil one, with the other being unable to be treated. Due to Valerie's fragile condition, Howard put the business he had just started on hold to take care of Valerie and the 4 children. Shortly thereafter, at age 4, Maren was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a very aggressive and hard to treat cancer. For the past three years the family has been through surgery, transplants, chemotherapy, and risky trials in hopes of clearing Maren's cancer. Maren is currently in a state of No Evidence of Disease, and receives treatment to keep the neuroblastoma clear at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. Her illness has taken it's toll on the entire family, as Howard was needed at home to care for the other 4 children while Valerie and Maren were pursuing treatment for Maren's Neuroblastoma. They have handled all of this with grace and strength, but are facing the loss of their home due to lack of income. Despite his relentless pursuit of work, Howard remains unemployed. Without community support, this family of 7 will lose their home to auction on August 28th.
