Rosie The Therapy and Service dog

Rosie was bought (at a VERY low price and considered a donation) to be a working gal—a service dog and therapy animal. She is currently at CRVS with Parvo. Despite vaccine records from the seller (see photo below), the sweet wonderful temperament little gal still contracted the virus that kills many dogs every year.


As someone who was raised to treat animals as an extension of myself and a frequent caretaker/foster parent of ill animals, I admitted her for proper care. Canine Parvo is a nasty virus that requires intensive care with fluids, antibiotics, a feeding tube and various other medications. Rosie was also found to have Giardia (from not having access to clean drinking water) and Coccidia. Upon contacting the seller she told me to euthanize her despite the good prognosis from the vet because she could not afford the care. She later offered me a new dog and then later blocked me when I attempted to update her on Rosie’s progress.

I’m physically disabled and having Rosie would enable me to enter the working force as an able bodied adult again, we are each other's life lines. Please help Rosie, every dollar counts in saving her life.

I do have Trupanion but she contracted it less than 30 days before her illness coverage kicked in and Trupanion has a 30 day waiting period for any illness coverage and anything before that is considered “pre-existing”:

Above is for 3 days of care (beginning 10/27) as of 10/29 she’ll need an to be there at least until 11/1 and is in need of a plasma transfusion which is not included on the bill.  Each critical care shift is $1,302 and ar 2 shifts/day that’s an additional $2,604 without including medication, fluids or food. 


Update: I thought I posted an update but here’s another one: she’s on two stimulants for appetite: Entyce, And Remeron (also B12, injection—we thought it might help give her some appetite and energy). She is also getting Zonfran, Pepsid and Reglan, Cerina, & Sucralfate for Nausea. As well as a Mega probiotic and an anti-parasitic, anti-diarrheal, steroid and some others. She got out of the ICU after 11 days and got to come home for a bit (24 hours), had to go to the animal hospital again because she wasn’t eating or drinking, got to come home again with some SubQ fluids and other protocols and now because she isn’t eating (she’ll need 190 kCals to maintain her weight (7 lbs—tiny for a standard poodle at almost 3 months), what she really needs is 220 kCals+ she ate maybe three bites of kibble) she is getting an NG tube again ): my poor baby. She just loves snuggles and wants to kiss your hand all day long, wags her tail. we are in desperate need of prayers and words of encouragement! Rosie was released and did have to go back to a regular animal hospital because she was not eating or drinking but is since improving. She has defyed the odds! Beating SEVERE Parvo, Coccidia, Giardia and Septicemia!! Talk about a miracle pup!

ABOUT ME:
I was diagnosed with a terminal form of Neuro-Behcets disease. This disease affects my autonomic nervous system and causes me to faint upon standing, gastroparesis, peripheral nerves causing paraparesis of the legs and hands, my central nervous system causing seizures, and because it’s an inflammatory disease of the veins my cardiopulmonary system is not the greatest causing heart arrhythmia and damage. I use a wheelchair and walker for mobility and am on strong chemotherapy and other medications. A few years back I was hospitalized when the disease became severe and unmanageable—unable to stand or walk—as a result I became physically disabled.



However, due to the healing power and motivation of therapy animals I kept pushing forward until I was able to walk short distances with a walker, I want to pay that forward! When I am physically able to I want to visit people who are in serious need of a therapy animal. 



ROSIES JOB:
Rosie is a special dog; not all animals have the correct temperament to be therapy animal or service animals—LET ALONE BOTH. She was set to start training  again but obviously this is a setback. As a service animal, she will provide those same uplifting services to others that a therapy dog provided me. She will visit nursing homes, adult foster homes, rehabilitation centers for mental and physical disabilities and children with disabilities. She will also serve as a seizure response animal, assist me with opening doors, navigate and assist with living in a world made for able bodied individuals, provide response for my frequent fainting by alerting (barking), turning my body so I’m on my back and burrowing under my legs to raise blood pressure and assist with getting my feeding supplies/medication as well as my psychological needs.
