Our friend, mother and co-worker Rosemary Alvarenga suffered a stroke on Sunday, February 22, 2015.  Through the grace of God she recognized the severity of her symptoms and her family was able to rush her to the hospital.  Rosemary has now undergone two separate surgeries, the first soon after her arrival to remove the first aneurism that had already burst, and a second on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 to eliminate the danger from a second brain aneurism.

Rosemary is expected to remain at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA in the ICU for at least another week, and possibly more.  Michael and her sons Derek and Kevin are by her side, along with friends and family who continue to make visits when the doctors allow.

While insurance covers a great deal of the expense there will be significant hospital bills left to pay.  Any help you can provide would be sincerely appreciated.  Thank you for your good wishes, love and support!

After a long stay in the ICU, two operations and numerous procedures, Rosemary has been moved to the NeuroSurgery Unit and continues to improve! The plan is for Rosemary to rest a few more days before she is moved to the Rehabilitation Unit where she will stay for 7 to 10 days and receive additional physical therapy.

Rosemary sends her thanks to everyone for their love, prayers and support! And we thank you for your concern and generosity!

Rosemary had her second surgery on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 to eliminate the danger from a second brain aneurism.  The surgery went well and Rosemary is now beginning her recuperation in the ICU.  Her prognosis is excellent and she has every expectation of making a full recovery.  Her greatest challenge right now is enduring the high levels of pain from the surgery, and the effects of being bed-ridden for 10 days.  She will soon start rehabilitation therapy and working towards eventually returning to her normal activities.  We appreciate all the well wishes and support!

*** Update ***   February 27, 2015

Rosemary has been suffering through periods of intense pain and vomiting, but is hanging in there.  She is a fighter, and thankfully is otherwise in excellent health and exercises regularly.  A second surgery has been scheduled for Monday, March 2, 2015.
