A simple act of caring creates an endless ripple.
I’m turning 30 in August and I’ve decided it’s time to do something for others, so I will be doing a skydive on the 22nd August to raise money for my family charity – the Rosemary Yenge Ndi Educational Trust.
The charity was set up by my family 20 years ago, in my Grandmother’s honour, to provide more educational opportunities in Cameroon. My grandmother finished school in grade 6, and worked as a day labourer picking coffee while looking after her family. She had dreams of becoming a teacher, so she educated herself and went back to school to get her qualifications, and became a professional teacher later in life. Without her dedication to the importance of education, my family would not be where we are today.
According to Unicef, only 53% of children of the right age attend secondary school in Cameroon. The Rosemary Yenge Ndi Educational Trust creates opportunities for education to those who may not otherwise have it, by providing full or partial funds for children in Cameroon to go to school. Before the troubles in Cameroon, which have shut down many schools, the charity was sponsoring the education of as many as 500 children a year. We hope to be able to reach those levels again, so please donate!
