Rosalind Family Fire Fund

Hello, my name is Rosalind Coleman - I am the mother of two beautiful daughters Dominique Washington 26 and Dejamelyah Tyler, 13 years old and twin grand daughters Ahlayashia and Ahleashia - 6 years old. I am active in their lives and especially my younger children's schools. I am a parent volunteer supporting my children, other student's and the dedicated teachers of West Oakland.
My grand twins started 1st grade at their new school on August 22nd and on the 24th while I was volunteering in their classroom - our home caught on fire. This fire was a result of faulty electrical wiring in the heater in the front room. The house was completely destroyed along with all of our belongs.
We are a family of faith and we understand this tragedy in our lives can still lead to good things. My children have attended school everyday since the fire. The new Lowell Education complex where my children attend West Oakland Middle School and Lafayette have been extremely supportive of my family.
We are grateful for the outpouring of support from the school district and neighbors.
But I must make this broader appeal on behalf of my family - because I am on disability and have a limited income, I need financial assistance to rent a new home for my family, provide furnishing and try to replace my children's clothing, toys and books. I know there are so many things that are irreplaceable but we have to begin somewhere in putting our lives back together.
I know that this is going to have long-term impact on my children and me, so I am working hard just to reestablish the basics and make sure my children are stable and don't miss a beat in their education, as soon as I can. This has been a powerful lesson on "having things", instead, we thank God for our lives and the fire didn't take our lives in the middle of the night.
Please donate what you can. My goal is to raise $6,000 to cover the first, last months rent and moving cost. It will cost approximately $4,200 just for rent. There is a gracious West Oakland landlord wiling to hold an apartment for me and my family.
We would appreciate your help. Help us make it. Through the Fire we are made stronger and with your help we are back to being whole!
God Bless you!
